(Riverina) A sunny little Chardonnay selling at pure bottom shelf prices shining with the simple bright and impetuous glow that comes from youth and the warm Riverland sun. The overall effect is hardly mind altering but its damn drinkable all the same.
Adelaide Hills SA The Adelaide Hills produces some of the finest Chardonnays in Australia and this is no exception. Whilst this isn't a $50 Chardonnay the quality of it is rather impressive given its relative price point.
South Eastern Australia A pleasant and easy drinking Chardonnay. Tropical fruits flow through a lightly oaked palate - great for everyday consumption.
The No.1 Selling Australian Wine in the U.S!Riverina NSWThis wine is a fine example of the dry growing season in the Big Rivers Region which produces Chardonnays of incredible intensity freshness and character. The Yellow Tail Chardonnay exhibits a golden straw colour with ripe peach and melon aromas and sweet oak nuances. The palate is fresh and approachable with balanced acidity and a lingering finish of delicious peach melon and tropical flavours.
Various Flying off the back of the Shiraz comes the other 'critter' wine - the Little Penguin Chardonnay. The Penguin duo are only recent arrivals in Australia as like so many Australians before them their reputation was forged on the export market. This Chardonnay is a very typical modern Chard representative - minimal oak on a peachy grapefuity sweet fruited palate. The whole persona of this style of wine is all about fun and celebration a recognition of wine as a drink first a living breathing product second.Drink this white ice cold whilst sitting around in your towel after a swim.
(Hunter Valley NSW)The label is a mystery but the wine is good!A fruit salad of aromas and flavours like ropical fruit melon and peach. Fig and citrus add complexity and length. Terrific quality and great value
(Karadoc Vic)The Zilzie story is a good one. Situated on the banks of the Murray in the beating heart of the Australian wine industry. Zilzie have been grapegrowers since the early 70's selling the fruit off their 1700 hectare vineyard to large Australian winemakers where it typically ends up in big brand blends. In the last decade Zilzie has moved from being pure grapegrowers into being winemakers putting out an extensive range of wines at a distinctively fair price (nothing in the Zilzie range even comes close to $20 a bottle). With access to such a fruit resource Zilzie has the luxury of cherry picking the best fruit for their own wines whilst enjoying the same economies of scale afforded to the wineries they sell their grapes too.The net result: Great wines minimal dollars. This Chardonnay presents perfect evidence of this : A wine under $10 a bottle that has the quality to be able to pick up a whole brace of trophies.A wine worth every cent
